Local News:
P.C. Richard & Son expects to open its second
Connecticut store in three to four months at the site of the former Linens
and Things on the Boston Post Road. The appliance and electronic retailer,
with stores primarily in New York and New Jersey, has one Connecticut
location in Norwalk. P.C. Richard & Son has been taking over former Circuit
City stores. Richard said company officials looked at the former Circuit
City in Milford, which is located in the WalMart Plaza, but decided on the
former Linens and Things location because it is directly on Route 1. “We
think it’s a more visible spot,” Richard said. “And we feel a free standing
store is always better for us because we are more of a destination. The
Linens and Things building has been empty since the store closed last
winter. Community Development Director Robert Gregory said P.C. Richard is a
perfect company to fill the empty store. “I think it’s a perfect fit for the
location and for Milford,” Gregory said. “P.C. Richard has a name, they have
the name and the whistle, that people here are familiar with. They’re family
owned, and they pride themselves on customer service.” The building is
expected to remain much as it is, with renovations focusing on the interior.
